NORTH WEST COUNTIES - Irlam 23 - Eccles 0
Eccles travelled the few miles to local rivals Irlam Hornets and went down by 23 points to nil. Although we put in a good performance, their extremely small pitch didn’t suit our type of play. We look forward to a replay in the return fixture (date to be decided) on a decent pitch.
SATURDAY 6th FEBRUARY 2010

NORTH WEST COUNTIES - Eccles 14 - Bamber Bridge 16
Despite a good performance by Eccles we were unlucky to come away on the end of defeat. A missed opportunity would have seen the scoreline reversed.

NORTH WEST COUNTIES - Eccles 30 - Leyland Warriors 24
Eccles' A team got a welcome 2 points against a very determined Leyland side, and they can thank the skill of departing Aussie stand off Scott Bowden for giving them an early lead that they just about managed to hang on to.
Bowden scored 2 tries and converted one, then also converted an Adam Taher try that gave Eccles an 18-0 advantage, Bradley Lonsdale adding the other conversion, before the visitors pulled back a converted try just before half time.
Leyland were a different team in the second half and took the game to Eccles. An early converted try gave them hope but Mike Carney followed up Bowden's break to score a try that Lonsdale converted off the cross bar for a 24-12 lead. Leyland came back again to move within a converted try of Eccles (24-18) and Eccles had a nervous 10 minutes when Mark Thomas was sin binned with 15 minutes to go, but Taher settled the nerves when he crashed over for his second try and Lonsdale converted (30-18), although there was still time for Leyland to score another converted try to bring the final score to 30-24.
